Chapter 1: A Bank heist, a Ventriloquist and a dead man.

Part 1

The city skyline looked painted onto the blood red sky, the lights from the windows glowed yellow auras into the dark wet night. The moon was a perfect round white glowing sphere, pouring its cold harsh violent light, burning through the thick rain clouds and into the shadow filled Gotham below. The petrol fumes were visible clouds of sickly purple smoke, skimming the surface of the wet concrete. Rain dripped into the drains, rubbish floated on the puddles and trickles. It was a noisy night, people were shouting, traffic was heavy and their drivers were angry, shouting at each other under the bleak light.

Seemingly it was another typical night in Gotham. He clung to the edges of the fixtures on the corner of Gotham bank, his cape shielding him as much as the night did. He was invisible here, only birds and…well, other flying creatures would know he was even there.

Recently, there hadn’t been much activity. Not any that involved Gothham’s more…colourful characters. It was like staring at a bee hive, knowing and hearing the noises but not being tempted to rattle it. He knew something was bound to happen soon, something big. Or…perhaps he just wanted it to happen…? Something in his mind kept gnawing at him from behind his eyes. Was it paranoia? The waiting, the expectancy for something to happen, the anticipation of the chase? Was it becoming more than just carrying out justice? Was it becoming some sort of addiction? He felt like a prowling panther, waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting prey.

It was the ones that lured him, that dared him to catch them, the ones that acted like living was just a game of chance, the ones that actually wanted to be caught, to be stopped just because it was a thrill to be chased, knowing they were the cause of utter chaos. The ones that committed crimes just because they could… because it was fun. They weren’t out to take over the world or to prove they were better than everyone else. It was the ones that wanted to prove a point, that deep down everyone, even batman himself when brought to the brink of disaster, when death stares them in the face that everyone is exactly the same; evil, psychotic, self-centred, egotistical…insane. Those were the most dangerous. Any goon with a gun was easy to take down. It was the ones with inarguable logic that were the dangerous ones. Batman knew there was some truth to what some of the super criminals had told him. The people of Gotham were just one bad day away from becoming just like them.

His purpose, his reason for being, Batman’s existence was to prove the clown wrong. Deep down, everyone has good in them. Some just needed to dig more than others. Was there hope for the clown prince of crime to regain some sense? Did it really simply come down to a choice? Choose the light instead of the darkness? How can you tell the difference?

Part 2

A large truck swung round a junction chased by three cop cars, their sirens wailing, their lights blinding the civilians as they jumped away from the chase. The birds and stray dogs scattered, and the rubbish and smoke spiralled from the aftermath of the chase. Three men, all dressed in thick black overalls with gass masks on their faces clung onto the side of the truck, shooting at the cop cars as they swerved and braked to avoid the hits.

“Come on! Drive faster!” one of them shouted.

“This is as fast as she’ll go, man! I’m not a miracle worker! You do your job; let me do mine!” the driver shouted back, swerving left and right.

“Dammit!” a cop car was parallel with the truck, forcing it to the pavement. “They’re trying to block our exit! Shoot their tires!”

Rhino smashed the side windows with his massive fists and they pointed their shot guns at the cop car. The cop car swerved, clipping the slide of a lamp post. The driver lost control and the car flipped and rolled into a side street.

“One down, two to go!” the driver cheered, fist in the air.

“We’re gonna get away scot free! Look at all that dough!”

“The boss is gonna be sittin’ pretty.” The largest goon said, cracking his knuckles. He had to stoop down, almost squat down in the truck he was so huge.

The back of the truck was full of huge sacks, stuffed full of cash. Some of the sacks weren’t even tied up properly, and some of the money was poking out of holes in the sacks.

The driver laughed. “Yeh, Rhino! He’s gonna be runnin’ this town and no one’s gonna mess with us after this!”

“Uh…what’s that ahead…?”Rhino pointed, the only one paying attention to the road.

Another cop car was hurtling straight toward the truck. A large fat angry man wearing a dirty brown trench coat and hat hung out of the passenger car window, shooting straight at the van. The car swerved and the breaks squealed, causing the van to swerve to avoid collision. “Crazy woman driver! Keep it straight, will ya!” Bullock burped. He pointed his gun, aiming for the tires of the truck.

“I’m doing my best here, Bullock!” Montoya growled. She did a full u turn as they passed the van and hurled straight for it. “The steering wheel’s sticky! It’s disgusting! Don’t you ever clean this thing?…Look who I’m asking…” She turned the wheel, her hands sticking to the stearing wheel as she drove.

“Ya gotta be gentle with her, Montoya! Gah!” Bullock dodged a bullet which ricocheted off the side view mirror. “I’m getting’ too old for this!” he spat, shooting his gun.

“That’s it!!” Montoyer slammed the breaks and pulled Bullock back in the car.

“What are ya doin?” Bullock spat.

“Saving our asses! We’re outnumbered and running low on ammo because of your trigger happy fingers!!!” She swerved down a sidestreet slammed the acceleration at full pelt, the car rocked and jumped over trash cans and trash. She grabbed the radio. “This is Officer Montoyer on Downtown avenue! We are in persuit of a hijacked truck! The driver is presumed dead. The thieves are considered armed and dangerous. We need back up, I repeat, back up!”

“Sheesh, Montoya. I could have done that!” Bullock slouched. “Which way did that van go?”

“They headed west, toward the pier. I’m gonna take south bound.” The car jumped out of the side street straight onto the main highway and turned left.

“That’ll take ya underground! We’ll lose em down there! Take North Bound!” Bullock grabbed the wheel forcing it into the right lane.

Montoya pushed him off. “Let me drive, fat ass!”

“It’s my car, you yutz!” he grabbed the wheel again, blinding Montoya’s view.

“Bullock!”

“Just trust me, Montoya! Take North Bound!”

“No, Bullock, look” she pointed straight ahead.

Something huge, black and seeminly weightless was flying ahead of them, swooping between buildings, landing on lampposts and then shooting off ahead, disappearing in the mist.

“That’s out back up.” Montoya sighed in relief.

“Oh fabulous…” Bullock threw his hat off and hit his head off the dashboard. “What’s the bat doing here? We got everything under a control!”

Montoya watched Bullock as he punched and kicked in his seat like an angry toddler.

“Yeah…control.” She sighed, shaking her head. “Let’s get to the pier.” She revved the engine and the car roared and sped down theroad. South Bound.

Part 2

The white van parked at the pier. There were several boats at the docks, most of them unmanned. The water was calm and the rain was starting to lift a little. The goons threw large sacks onto a fishing boat. A short man in a tuxedo stood holding a ventriloquist doll, held a gun to an old man’s head. “Please! That boat’s all I have! She’s my home! You can’t take her!” the old fisherman grabbed the ventriloquist’s shirt. He put the puppet up to the old man’s face.

“Zip it, old man!” the puppet’s mouth moved.

“Wha…what’s the matter with you?!” he shouted at the ventriloquist. “That boat is my whole life!! She’s my pride and joy! Listen to me, I won’t let you-“ the fisherman was struck on the head and knocked to the ground. He looked up, and the puppets eyes drilled into him.

“When you talk, you talk to me, not the dummy, got it?” the puppet said. “Get down on yer knees and stay down this time.” Scarface held the gun to the back of the old man’s neck. “Hands on yer head.” The puppets eyes moved from left to right, the gears inside the wood zipped and sparked. The man holding the puppet looked lifeless, his eyes blank behind thick round glasses. It was like the ventriloquist was an empty shell, and the puppet was the one that was alive.

“There’s gotta be over a million here!” Rhino said, tossing the sacks onto the boat.

“Seven million. One million in each bag.” Scarface said. “Get da cash on da boat, yous mugs, and make it snappy. I don’t want any rodent’s snoopin around….Wait a second.” All the goons froze. The puppets eyes darted from left to right. “One…two…there’s only six bags here! Where’s the seventh? I swares if you guys are tryin’ to pull a fast one on me they’re gonna end up sleepin’ with them fishes in that ocean!”

Rhino looked around. The other goons did the same. One of them was missing. “Wait…where’s Benny?”

The driver of the truck, Benny had disappeared. “Look!” Rhino pointed to the white van. It was making a swift exit out of the car park and back toward the city.

“It’s Benny! He’s run off with one of the bags!” A goon shouted.

“He won’t get far. Break into that car over there and get after ‘im! You.” The puppet looked at the ventriloquist. “If he moves, shoot im.”

“Not my car as well. Please…” the old man whimpered.

“Zip it! Dummy, like I said, if the old guy even sneazes, shoot him.”

“Ye…yes sir, Mr Scar Face.” The ventriloquist wimpered. The old fisherman looked at the quivering wreck of a man. Sweat was pouring from his bald head. Aurther’s hands trembled as he held the gun to the man’s head.

Part 3

Benny nervously cluched the sack of money like it was a defenceless baby, driving the van with one hand. He looked in the rear view mirror. He wasn’t being followed. “Lost em…” he sighed. He turned down a quiet lane and slowed the van down. He stopped the van and got out, pointing his gun, still hugging the sack of money to his chest. He then leapt inside a large empty door way. He was completely hidden in the shadows, no one would find him. He laughed to himself. He stroked the bag of money. “Got away…”

“Not yet you haven’t.” a voice replied.

Benny pointed his gun toward the shadows. “Who’s there?!” he shouted. There was no answer. He span around. Not a soul. Simply darkness. The voice came from close by, right beside him, practically whispered in his ear. “Stay back, or I’ll shoot you!” Bennyshouted. He span around, pointing the gun. “I know you’re here somewhere and when I find you-“ He saw a shadow move and shot at it. Realising he was shooting his own shadow, he reloaded the gun, panicking. His wrist was grabbed from behind himand twisted round, almost to the point of breaking. Benny screamed in pain and then felt a powerful fist fire into his stomach. He dropped his gun and fell to his knees. He was then dragged by the scruff of his neck backwards and thrown against a brick wall, held off his feet.

A set of white pupilless eyes drilled into Benny’s eyes. They were angry, serious and powerful. The black cowel had tall devil horns, sharp and angry, framing his strong square head and jaw. His suit was like armour, powerful but light. His cape flowed behind him, draping the ground like wings. In his other hand, donned with a spiked gauntlet, he held up the sack of money. “Where’s the rest of it?”

“The rest of…” Benny squeaked.

Batman tightened his grip and lifted him higher. “The money you stole from the Gotham Bank. Where is it? Tell me. Don’t make me hurt you more.” Batman pulled back his fist.

Benny flinched. He felt tiny next to this creature. He wasn’t even sure he was a man. He was something out of this world. He was huge, muscular, strong and tall. Benny though was skinny, and he hung there like a worm on a hook.

“Alright! Alright, man! Your crazy! Put me down, I’ll tell you everything!”

“Thank you.” Batman lowered Benny to the ground, but kept a firm hold. “Where?”

“By the pier, the white fishing boat. Please just let me go!”

Batman looked up at the moon. He put Benny down without looking at him, then tied him up.

“Sit tight. I’ll come back for you.” He pointed his fist into the sky and flew upwards, his cape wipping the air.

Part 4

“Start the engine.” Scarface ordered. The old fisherman blundered about with his keys. His hands were clammy and sweat made his clothes cling to his back.

“I’m trying…please, I’m old. My blood pressure …can’t take this…”

“Come on!” Scarface yelled.

“I’m trying, I’m-“ Scarface hit the back of the fisherman’s head with the gun knocking him out.

“Too slow. I have no patience for snails…” he turned to Rhino. “Start the engine.”

“But I don’t know how to drive a boat, boss!” Rhino shrugged helplessly.

“Look, numb nuts, it’s easy; turn the wheel left, we go left, turn it right, we go right. Simple, right?”

Rhino rubbed the back of his neck. “But what about all them other buttons…?”

“Just get it going, will ye?”

There was a loud heavy thud above their heads, and out the window, they saw three guys being thrown into the water.

“This is no time to go swimmin’! Go check it out, Rhino!”

“Sure boss.”

Part5

“This is gonna hurt you, batfreak!”

Batman threw himself behind the mast on the boat, the bullets shooting past him, missing him by inches. He knew he only had a moment while the goon reloaded his gun. Scarface’s goons weren’t too bright. They came at him, literally guns blazing. At last, the bullets stopped. He jumped out from behind the mast and leapt at the gun, pulling it out of the goons hands. He held it in both hands and smashed it over his knee, splitting the gun in two. He held up the two halfs, dropped them, took one step toward the goons who ran off, screaming.

Batman punched and dodged every attempt at a hit the goons threw at him. His feet danced in a powerful blur, he flipped his cape and threw batterangs, knocking their knives and guns out of their hands. One of the goons ran at him. Batman took one step to the left and the goon ran straight into the railing then fell into the water.

Then Rhino appeared.

He lived up to his name. He was twice Batman’s size, more muscle than brains. It was pointless even trying to punch him, he would only break the bones in his fingers. Rhino was clumsy and slow, though. Batman was quick, and smart. Rhino threw punches and kicks, Batman dodged and ducked, waiting for the huge oaf to lose his footing. Rhino favoured his left foot, so Batman focused on attacking him when his weight was on his right foot and threw his cape over Rhino’s head and pulled him down.

“Now for Scarface.” Batman calmed himself. This one was going to be tricky.

He had dealt with Scarface before. The ventriloquist suffered from multiple personality disorder, and was victim to a split personality. On one side, the Ventriloquist Arnold was a nervous and shy man. But his other personality, known as Scarface, was cunning, violent, and extremely dangerous. More often than not, Scarface was the one in control. Batman knew he had to reach Arnold and persuade him to defeat Scarface. The alternative was unthinkable. Arnold was as much a hostage as he was a villain, and he could only save himself. Batman assessed the situation calmly. He knew Scarface probably had a hostage, but he also knew Scarface would never give up the money. Batman made his way down to the bridge, and he found Scarface holding a gun to the fisherman’s head.

“Don’t move, Fruitbat. Or the old man’s sleepin’ with da fishes.” The puppet shouted.

Batman ignored the puppet and spoke gently to Aurther, remaining a safe distance away. The old fisherman’s head was bleeding, and his hands were shaking as he held them on his head.

“Arnold. Put the gun down.”

“Don’t talk to the dummy! You talk to me!” the puppet shouted.

“Let the man go.” Batman continued. “You don’t want to do this.”

“Sure I do. Watch.” Scarface looked at Arnold and nodded. Arnold unleashed the safety on the gun.

“Arnold.” Batman put his hand forward.

The ventriloquist’s head moved, and he mumbled something. He looked at Batman straight in the eye with tiny terrified pupils, at last a sign he was fighting back.

“I…I’m sorry…” Arnold cried.

“Hey! Dummy! You don’t do the talkin’ around here! I do! Now shut your yapper and get me outta here!”

“Arnold, remember what you said to the doctors at Arkham. You said you want to be by your self. Alone. Without Scar Face. You can get well again, Arnold. Everyone deserves a chance to be well. Put the puppet down and let the man go.”

“Don’t listen to the caped loser, dummy! He’s tryin’ to get inside yer head! We got da money now waste the old timer and get rid of the flying rat!”

“Arnold!” Batman shouted. He was running out of time and patience. He had to get the old man away from Scar face somehow, and if Arnold wasn’t going to let him go then Batman knew what he had to do. But he would only do it at a last resort. “Focus on my voice. Don’t give in. Don’t give up.”

“I…I…can’t…” Arnold shivered. He tightened his grip on the gun.

“Arnold!” Batman shouted one last time.

“Will you two stop yakkin already? Hurry up, Dummy and waste the old man and the bat! You need to get me outta here!”

Batman remained still. He narrowed his eyes. If he had to, he would take Arnold down. He watched Arnold’s face, seeing his lips quiver.

“I’m…s… sorry, Mr Scarface. I can’t do this.” Arnold lowered the gun.

“You traitor! I’ll get you for this!”

“No. You won’t.” Arnold threw down the puppet, pointed the gun and shot it in the head. The puppet jerked and bounded as the pullets shot through it. He collapsed to his knees, his hands scratching the back of his skull as he cried in pain as well as relief. Batman helped the old fisherman to his feet. The old man pointed to the holes the bullets left in the floor. “My poor boat…”

“You’re alive. It can be repaired.” He went over to Arnold, standing over him as he sobbed, staring at the puppet, riddled with bullet holes. “Come on, Arnold. Let’s get you out of here.”

“I’m s…so…sorry.” He wept at Batman’s feet. “I didn’t want to take that money. I didn’t want to hurt anybody…he used me.”

“I know.” Batman put his hand on his shoulder, and let him vent and cry.

Part 6

Benny shifted in his bounds. They were tight and impossible to break. But he was small and gangly, he could wriggle out eventually. It just took patience. Unfortunately, he was running out of it. A shadow passed by.

“Get me out of this thing!” he shouted. The shadow reappeared. “Batman?”

There was a blur, then a felt cold steal against his neck. Someone or something behind him held his head back and put the knife to his throat.

“Wait! Don’t! I didn’t mean to take the money! I just-“ he felt wetness run down his neck and down his throat. He gagged for breath, he reached his hands behind him but there was no one there. He coughed and spluttered. Blood was pouring through his fingers, then everything went blurry and black.

Part7

“Come on, man! We were just followin’ orders!” Scarface’s goons were handcuffed and being forced into the back of a police van by a rather flustered Bullock.

“Just get in the car ye lowlife…” Bullock croaked, pushing the last goon in the police van. Batman stood behind him, holding Arnold gently with one hand. Arnold stared at the ground in silence. “You!” Bullock slammed the van doors shut and marched toward Batman with his fist to his face. “Bat doofus! Me and Montoya had the whole thing covered! We don’t need you, or any other of you costumed cartoon characters!”

Batman raised an eyebrow and said nothing. He didn’t need to. He knew that was Bullock’s way of saying thanks. He gently pushed Arnold towards Montoya, who stood next to Bullock. She hand cuffed Arnold. “Standard procedure, sir.”

“I…understand. I’m sorry, lieutenant.”

“I know.” She helped him into a cop car, separate from the other goons. “Thanks for your help.” Montoya tilted her hat to Batman once Arnold settled in the back seat. She then nudged Bullock in his side.

“Ye yeh…big whoop.” Bullock dismissed the situation and hopped into the van.

“Get him to Arkahm Asylum.”Batman instructed Montoya. “He’ll get the help he needs there. The rest. Blackgate.” Batman narrowed his eyes and turned away.

Montoya nodded and closed the car door.

“Hold on. There’s one more. Head back through South Bound and stop of Gordon’s lane. You’ll find the driver of the white van tied up in a door way.”

“It’s a good thing you turned up. Otherwise we never would have-“

He was gone.

“Typical. He never sticks around long enough to let me set him right! I had everything under control.”

“Sure you did…come on, let’s get the last one in the van and get out of here.”

“Yeh. I need a beer…and a doughnut.”

They drove down to where Batman told them to find the last goon. Montoya hopped out of the car and Bullock followed. “Hurry up and find the runt, then lets get a doughnut.”

Montoya shined her torch down the dark alley. They found the van abandoned with the driver door open. The goon didn’t do much to hide his tracks. They walked a little further down, stepping over trash cans. There was a rubbish skip and opposite it was a large door way. “This must be it.” Montoya shined the torch in the door way.

The goon laid face down, tied up in one of Batman’s tight ropes. Bullock kicked the man’s shoulder.

“Hey, buddy. Nap time’s over. On yer feet!”

The goon didn’t move. Montoya shone her torch on the goon and Bullock turned him over. “Batman must have knocked him out.” With a grunt, Bullock turned the goon over.

“Wow…how did…” His clothes were soaked in blood. The goon was dead, and the sack of money was gone.

She got on her radio and requested an ambulance. Bullock grabbed her wrist and shook his head. “Forget the ambulance. It’s the coroner he needs.”

“Look at all that blood… He bled to death.”

“Is the Bat killing em off now?”

Part 8

The gates of Arkham opened and creaked, rusted with time and stress. The car made it’s way toward the main door of Arkam, Doctor Hockey and Doctor Leeland stood at the door, awaiting the arrivals.

“Arnold. I have to say I’m sorry to see you back here. But with good hard work you shouldn’t be here too long.”

“Thank you.” Arnold said in a whisper before disappearing inside.

Doctor Hockney lit up a cigarette.

“Well, an eventful day almost over. Why don’t we go for a coffee or something when your shifts over, Chris? I’d like to hear about your vacation.” Dr Leeland said.

“That would be great, Joan. I could use a cup.”

“Wait. Looks like there’s another car coming.”

“What? We were only expecting one.”

“What the-look out!” Dr Hockney grabbed Doctor Leeland’s arm as the car slammed into the pillers of the front of the building. Out of view, something was thrown out the back door, and the car sped off back down the road.

“Are you ok?” Hockney asked. Dr Leeland brushed her white coat down and straightened her skirt.

“I think so. What did they throw out?”

They both stared at the lump thrown out of the car. Whatever it was had been wrapped in a dark ripped sheet, covered in little red diamonds. Hockney stepped towards it cautiously.

“Careful. I have a gut feeling about those red diamonds…it could be a bomb or something.”

“No…it’s worse than that.” Hockney stepped toward it. “It’s a body.”

“What?”

Hockney knelt beside the body. Blood was seeping out underneath his clothing. Hockney lifted the black sheet, the body shivered and coughed. “Wait. He’s still alive! Get the orderlies! Now!” Dr Hockney ordered. He put the man in the recovery position. “Just hold on. Don’t move. Don’t-“

Hockney lifed the sheet and pulled it back over the man’s head. Beads of sweat hung onto strands of badly bleached hair, dried blood stains on his face and hands. His eyes were sunken in, black, but glowed and darted about frantically. His skin was pale, white and pasty.

“Hey, doc…” a voice croaked from under the blood sodden purple coat. “How was your vacation…?”

Hockney jumped back realising who it was he was kneeling beside.

“Did you miss me?”

“Just…” he looked around him, then cautiously returned to the man’s side. He was injured, badly. But still was the most dangerous man in Gotham. But Hockney stayed beside him. “Just…just hold on. Help is coming.”

“Oh, that’s good. I’m gonna have a hell of a job getting those blood stains out of my nice purple zoot suit…gonna need all the help I can get!” he laughed, sending shockwaves through Hockney’s ears and through the halls of Arkham.

The Joker was home.

http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7140843/Ian_and_Bobby_s_Epic_Quest_to_Rent_a_Movie_Full_DVD

Or, if you’re not trusting of the pirate sites for any reason, you can message or email me Sydpart2@gmail.com and I can send you a DVD of the movie. Please note that I have very little money, and am spending a lot of it on making the DVD’s so there’s a small charge for just the cost of making the actual DVD (supplies and such) and for the shipping. I know it might sound a little shakey but I swear it’s not. I really just can’t afford to give them away for no charge, I would if I could which is why I posted the torrent. But if you really want a DVD from me, there’s a cost of $1.50 plus whatever it will cost to ship to you.

For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, but are interested, here’s the trailer:

I hope you enjoy the movie and that you will write back about it!

-Ian

Of course you do! The following two videos were created by jwhit3d of Youtube, a crazy talented netizen with a sense of pacing for CGI animation. Of course, it’s a bit rough around the edges, but still incredibly awesome.

This first video is Joker’s monologue to Batman from “Batman: The Killing Joke”. Look at the pacing and the emotion and the design and GAH. The actual monologue was done by a Youtuber named Pgirts, who apparently chose the music and arranged the audio.

The second one uses a… certain rather sick joke that J-man tells in “Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth”, and the voice acting is once more done by Youtuber Pgirts. The bit at the end, however, is from the B:TAS episode “The Laughing Fish”. And Harley, I have to agree with you there: “Yer really sick, ya know dat, boss?” XD

Talented? Oh very much so, and I am extremely jealous. Also, WHY is Killing Joke not animated yet? It needs to be animated. We need to send out a letter writing campaign or something.

Hey guys, just a heads up, I’m going to be uploading a fan fic I’ve been working on for a while.  It will be a stand alone story and will have elements from both the Nolanverse and the BTAS versions of Batman.  Here’s the synopsis;

A new threat has come over Gotham- goons have been found dead all over Gotham and no one, not Gotham’s police force, private investigators, not even the Batman himself can figure out who is killing them or why they are dropping like flies. Now Batman has to force himself to team up with his enemies to track down this killer before more people die, goon or not.

More to come soon. x
